Kevin Iole is a journalist who for more than four decades has specialized in covering fighting sports. He is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and a 1977 graduate of Springdale High School and a 1981 graduate of Point Park College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism & Communications.

Iole most recently worked for Yahoo Sports, where beginning in 2007 he led the creation of the combat sports section. Prior to Yahoo, he worked at the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, the Burlington, Vt., Free Press newspaper and the Valley News Dispatch newspaper in Tarentum, Pa.

He has won numerous awards for his work. He won the Nat Fleischer Award for Career Excellence in Boxing Journalism in 2007. In 1999, he was named Outstanding Journalist by the Nevada Press Association. He was elected to the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in 2014. He also won state sportswriter of the year in both Vermont and Nevada, multiple times, as awarded by the National Sportswriters & Sportscasters Association. He’s also won many writing honors.

He is a 2025 nominee for the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

He resides in Las Vegas with his Basset Hound, Malkin.
